The Mitzvah

 Mitzvah#613

The last of the 613 Mitzvoth is that each individual should write a Torah scroll. The Torah is a tangible embodiment of our connection to the Divine, our most precious treasure and our guide to life.

Every single letter is necessary to render a Torah kosher. Therefore, one endorses the writing of just a single letter in a Torah has in effect made the Torah Kosher and complete; fulfilling the Mitzvah of writing a Torah.

Jewish Unity

The Rebbe teaches that the indispensableness of each letter of the Torah is analogous to the innate value of every individual Jew. Each Jew is necessary to complete the Divine purpose of creation.

Based on this teaching, the Rebbe proposes that all Jews join together by purchasing a letter in “community” Torah scrolls, expressing our inherent unity. One nation, One Torah, One G‑d.

About the Torah

about The Torah

A Sofer (a trained scribe) in the Holy City of Chevorn, Israel,  has been commissioned to write The Chabad at UCI Alumni Unity Torah.

A Unique Opportunity

The Chabad at UCI Unity Torah is a historic opportunity to fulfill the unique Mitzvah of having your letter in a Torah Scroll. By making a dedication in the Chabad at UCI Unity Torah, you will be joining dozens of UCI Alumni, students, parent and supporters in presenting this precious, timeless gift to the Chabad House at UCI.

All proceeds of Torah and Parsha Dedications will go to benefit the activities of The Rohr Chabad at UCI to empower and enrich the lives of hundreds of Jewish college students and build a stronger, more vibrant Jewish Community until the coming of Moshiach Now!
